SHOW NOTES – Episode 3, Season 1 – Limiting Beliefs

How are your limiting beliefs holding you back from what you want?

Carolyn’s limiting beliefs and the changes we made:

I won’t be successful because I didn’t graduate college BECAME It doesn’t matter if I went to college, I will still be successful.

I need drugs and alcohol to calm my anxiety BECAME I have the power to calm my anxieties in healthy ways.

I am a procrastinator BECAME I get shit done when it needs doing, God damn it!

Becca’s limiting beliefs and the changes we made:

I am a manipulative and shitty liar BECAME I am an honest, truthful, good friend.

Nobody cares what I have to say BECAME I have something important to say.

Something bad is going to happen to me or my family BECAME even when bad things happen, I have the power and resources to turn it around.

A couple of takeaways:

  1. The truth is the truth ALL the time, if you’re telling yourself “the truth” be sure it’s a truth that is always true.
  2. You are not one thing, don’t assign yourself negative attributes that you could easily change. What are you, really?
  3. Worrying about what might happen ruins the present – don’t bother!
  4. The best way to shut up the voice is to take action! Show that little voice that you can do what you say you will do, it will shrink against your daily actions!

Homework:  Create YOUR list of limiting beliefs you tell yourself and flip them on  their heads by changing the language, practice telling yourself these  new beliefs, and truly buy in!
